CounselNote software licence — summary
- Grant. When you buy a licence you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use CounselNote on the number of devices stated for your tier, for the licence period purchased (one year).
- Evaluation. You can evaluate CounselNote free for 30 days before buying. No card is required.
- Your data. CounselNote stores all pupil and session data locally, encrypted with a passphrase you choose. We have no access to it and cannot recover it. You (or your school, as controller) are responsible for backups, device security, and compliance with UK GDPR and your school's data protection and retention policies.
- Not a statutory safeguarding system. CounselNote is a private counselling workspace and does not replace your school's approved child-protection recording system. Safeguarding concerns must be recorded and referred through your school's official procedure.
- Liability. CounselNote is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees paid for the licence in the 12 months before a claim. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- Law. These terms and the licence are governed by the law of England and Wales.
